Encodes the peroxisomal targeting signal type 2 receptor that facilitates peroxisomal protein translocation. It recognizes proteins with the PTS2 consensus sequence (RLX5HL or a variant) within the first 30 or so amino acids. RNAi experiments suggest that PEX7 is necessary for the maintenance of glyoxysomal but not leaf peroxisomal function.
